Why You’ll Love This Homemade Raspberry Sauce
It comes together in a flash: With just 4 simple ingredients and 10 minutes of stovetop cooking, you can whip up a bright, fresh raspberry sauce whenever a craving hits.
It’s endlessly versatile: Home cooks love using this sauce to top cheesecake, swirl into ice cream, sweeten up drinks, and even add a tangy fruity kick to select savory dishes.
It’s a proven fan favorite: Allrecipes community member Kim raves, “Love this raspberry sauce! It’s so easy to make, and it has such a lovely bright, fresh flavor.”
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds fresh raspberries
¼ cup granulated white sugar
1 tablespoon water (optional, add more as needed for a thinner consistency)
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice, or more to adjust to your taste preference
Directions
Add raspberries, sugar, optional water, and lemon juice to a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 7 minutes, until raspberries fully break down, all sugar dissolves, and the entire mixture is heated through.
Press the warm cooked sauce through a fine-mesh strainer to remove all raspberry seeds. Let the strained sauce cool completely to room temperature, then cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until fully chilled, for at least 45 minutes.
Chef's Note
If you want a thicker sauce (ideal for drizzling over ice cream, for example), simply skip adding any water to the recipe entirely.
